Vital Beat uses D3O® smart material to produce Shields that will offer an unparalleled level of protection to carriers of a pacemaker, ICD, S-ICD, Deep Brain Stimulator and Vagus Nerve Stimulator. Our Shields are capable of withstanding direct hits by absorbing and distributing energy and by minimising pain.

Benefits and reasons to wear our solutions

The Vital Beat Shield, spreads blows or punches to the pacemaker, ICD or S-ICD area, while competitive solutions, plaster, plastic, foam or gel, or a combination, and absorb the impact which increases the feeling of pain.

Pacemaker and ICD patients are more prudent and critical of nature than other users of protective solutions and will only accept the best level of protection.

It is safe to resume most forms of exercise, but contact sports, should be avoided, such as rugby and judo because a fall or direct hit to your chest could damage your device. However, some people do play contact sports with appropriate protection. Speak to your doctor or nurse at the ICD clinic before you consider participating in a contact sport.

What does our Pacemaker – ICD Shield protect exactly?

A. First the pacemaker itself. In most cases, it lies right under the left collarbone.

B. The pacemaker wires (2x). The wires run from pacemaker to the entrance of the artery and are “exposed”.

C. When leaving the pacemaker the wires at exit represent a potential breakingpoint, when pacemaker is hit directly.

S-ICD carriers are in particular concerned in protecting their S-ICD device. After the implant , they also wish to resume their regular activities and when possible increase their level of physical and sporting activities.
